As an Earth Care congregation, |
| we have set forth and are meeting goals in the following four areas: |
1. Worship:
We have landscaped our prayer garden with only native and edible plants.
Our pastor incorporates stewardship of the Earth into the church service.
2. Education:
We regularly provide Earth Care tips in our church newsletter, the Bell Tower, and have pages on the subject at our website.
Our Earth Care Committee members share important environmental news and actions being taken by other groups.
3. Facilities:
We have installed solar panels on our church roof and have plans to add more in the future.
We have better insulated many of our church windows.
We have taken steps to make our heating system more efficient by creating zones so that we only heat areas currently in use.
We have plans to make our kitchen more efficient and have fewer gas powered appliances.
We have extended native plantings to the perimeter of the church building.
4. Outreach:
We have been featured in our local newspaper for our Earth Care efforts.
We have plans to work more closely with other faith groups to share ideas and possible actions.We built a garden shed and rainwater catchment system in conjunction with Centro del Pueblo, a local nonprofit that has a community garden on church property.
